Turkish musicians give concert in "Le Cafe Turc"

26 July 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, PARIS
The French capital's "Jardin des Tuileries" was the venue Saturday for a Turkish music concert as part of the cultural events in the Turkey Season in France.

Okay Temiz (percussion) and Nedim Nalbantoğlu (violin) gave a concert at the Le Cafe Turc, or the Turkish Coffeehouse. French people showed a great interest in the concert which lasted for one and a half hours.

Le Cafe Turc, designed by Turkish architect Han Tümertekin to resemble old coffeehouses in İstanbul, will be the home for the events which will last until August 8.

Besides concerts and exhibitions, Le Cafe Turc hosts marbling art, calligraphy and illumination courses, shadow play shows particularly Karagöz and Hacivat, puppet shows, and conferences about Turkish cuisine.

The "Season of Turkey" activities began in France at the beginning of July with a show of the "Fire of Anatolia" dance group and "Mercan Dede" concert.

Turkey will be promoted by over 400 artistic and cultural activities in more than 70 cities in France for nine months.

"The Ottoman Caftans" exhibition to be opened at the Louvre Museum and "Istanbul for Centuries" exhibition at the Grand Palais will be the highlights of the season.

The "Season of Turkey" aims to contribute to promotion of Turkey's dynamics, creative differences, culture and heritage to the French society.
