Sivasspor is eager to win its upcoming game against Anderlecht, coach Bülent Uygun has said.

Noting that they want to beat Belgium's most renowned team, Uygun underlined that a win or a tie at the away game could move Sivasspor on to the next round.

Sivasspor players have been practicing for the game against Anderlecht at the team's own facilities, under the supervision of coach Uygun. The squad was fully present with the exception of Mehmet Yıldız, who was injured at a training camp in Holland, and midfielder Sezer Badur.

Uygun said this week that the team had some difficulties training because of ongoing injuries. However, he noted that his players would be ready for the pre-qualifying game, adding that the game would end well and would qualify them for the next round. In response to a question from reporters, Uygun said: “Anderlecht, home to players known around the world, is also a strong team because of its huge financial resources. We are aware that this will be a tough series of games. What matters is to get the job done. A probable win or tie in an away game will be an asset for us. Even a one-margin loss will be an advantageous score. We will do our best to win the game. Hopefully, we will qualify for the next round.”

Recalling that his team suffered after four key players from last season's squad left for other teams, Uygun said they planned to acquire two additional foreign players to make up for these losses.

Noting that the entire Sivasspor community was still coping with disappointing losses in two consecutive championship seasons, Uygun added that the upcoming season would be an interesting one because of a bitter competition not only among the Big Four but also among emerging Anatolian giants, including Sivasspor, Kayserispor, Gaziantep, Ankaragücü, Bursaspor and Eskişehirspor.
