The statement read that the DTP held its Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting on Monday and evaluated the party's plans for the future. According to the statement a process of moving forwards regarding the Kurdish issue has begun in Turkey, yet there are still some powers in the country that are trying to block this process.
Referring to Öcalan, who is serving a life sentence on an island in the Marmara Sea, as “esteemed Öcalan,” the statement said Öcalan has been preparing a roadmap for the settlement of the Kurdish issue and he can contribute a great deal in the resolution process. “It is necessary to take Öcalan's influence over the PKK and Kurdish people into consideration and to make use of his opinions so as to achieve good will, if there is such a will, and to find a solution to the issue. The DTP will do its part to take this process towards peace and will take part in the process actively. In this sense, our party will have talks with members of all democratic circles, intellectuals and representatives of pro-democracy organizations in order to exchange opinions and call on everyone to take on responsibility for the issue,” read the statement.
