US dollar rises, gold falls in European trading

The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Thursday morning. Gold fell.

The euro traded at US$1.4079, down from US$1.4127 late Wednesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

--93.64 Japanese yen, up from 94.39

--1.0764 Swiss francs, up from 1.0733

--1.1215 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1126

The British pound was quoted at US$1.6382, down from $1.6423.

Gold traded in London at US$935.25 per troy ounce, down from US$938.00 late Wednesday.
