16 July 2009 / THE ANATOLIA NEWS AGENCY, SANTIAGO
Turkey and Chile agreed on renewable energy cooperation, Turkish minister said on Wednesday.

Turkey's State Minister Zafer Çağlayan met Chilean Minister of Energy Marcelo Ramos Tokman and Minister of Public Works Sergio Bitar in the Chilean capital of Santiago, and discussed cooperation opportunities.

"Turkey and Chile have agreed to cooperate on renewable energy," Çağlayan told reporters after meeting Tokman.

Çağlayan said Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) could cooperate with its Chilean interlocutor in joint oil exploration.

The minister said Turkish and Chilean technical teams would come together soon and discuss cooperation opportunities particularly in energy.

During Çağlayan-Bitar meeting, the Chilean minister of public works said Chile could extend know-how and other types of support for Turkish contractors who wanted to join infrastructure and other projects in its territories.

Çağlayan proceeded to Brazilian capital of Brasilia after completing his talks in Chile.
