A man died on Tuesday when he was knocked off a bridge after being hit by a stream of pressurized water while attempting to fix a problem with a village's drinking water system.
Yakup Altun (41), the muhtar (administrative head) of the village of Doğankaş in Samsun's Ladik district went to the village of Nusratlı with other muhtars to fix a problem with the drinking water system.
Altun was working on the problem on Nusratlı Bridge when a stream of pressurized water burst from a pipe, causing him to fall from the seven-meter-high bridge.
Altun died at the scene after hitting some rocks; his body was taken to the medical faculty of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) in Samsun for an autopsy.
