Extra-marital affair stirs trouble within PKK

16 July 2009 / TODAY'S ZAMAN WITH WIRES, İSTANBUL
An extra-marital love affair between the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party's (PKK) so-called Belgian representative and a PKK supporter has caused trouble within the organization.
The European wing of the PKK was reportedly displeased by the affair between its so-called Belgian representative, İ.Ö., code-named Bedirhan, and a PKK supporter, D.A., a widow with two children. The PKK's top administration was informed of the illicit relationship, which is forbidden in the PKK and which D.A.'s father called a “degenerate affair.” He reportedly sent a letter to the so-called European representative of the organization, Sabri Ok, complaining that İ.Ö. had deceived his daughter with a false promise of marriage. On receiving the letter, Ok dismissed İ.Ö. and ordered him to be sent to the PKK's headquarters in the Kandil Mountains in northern Iraq. D.A.'s father was also reported to have been threatened by the organization not to make any statements about the affair.
