"There have been very good relations between governments and parliaments of Turkey and China. Also, Uighur Turks have constituted a bridge of friendship between our countries. But now, we are face to face with such dreadful events. We are profoundly sorry that some furious people threatened innocent people by using extreme force," he said.
"Chinese troops flooded into the streets in the city of Urumqi. Also, militia forces called Han Chinese are hunting Uighur people with clubs and the other fatal instruments in their hands. They raid houses and take women and children away. We heard about a number of fatalities," Arınç added.
"There are dead bodies lying in streets. There are women trying to resist on their own against trucks, tanks and troops. It is certainly possible to find those who are responsible for all these. We exert all kinds of efforts in all international platforms to this end. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his thoughts earlier. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also working on it. We want to bring this issue onto agenda of the United Nations, the EU and the other leading countries. Unfortunately, China is trying to conceal those events by using its economic and political power as well as its population," he said.
Chinese officials said that 156 people were killed, 1080 others were injured and more than 1400 people were detained during the days of ethnic violence in Urumqi.
