The State Waterworks Authority (DSİ) announced on Friday that the Tunca River had overflowed in the wake of two-day heavy downpours in western Thrace.
DSİ officials stated on Friday that the Tunca in western Edirne had overflowed following rainy weather that has maintained its grip in western and southern parts of the country for the last two days. Officials noted that the heavy downpours in Edirne caused the river to bursts it banks in four different areas. At the Kirişhane flow measurement station, it was observed that there was a total minimum flow of 78.1 cubic meters/second for the Tunca on Thursday whereas this figure reached 150 cubic meters/second for the Arda River and 603 cubic meters/second for the Maritsa River. The flooding of the Tunca inundated in certain areas of Edirne and some roads were closed to traffic. Officials noted that neighboring areas in Edirne province are not threatened.
