Wednesday road accidents claim lives of 22

Traffic accidents across Turkey on Wednesday claimed the lives of 22 while leaving 73 injured.

Nine people were killed and one injured in a deadly accident in the Anatolian province of Çankırı. The accident happened when a car collided head on with an oncoming car after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The injured person was taken to Çankırı State Hospital. Çankırı Governor Vahdettin Özcan personally examined the site of the incident.

another accident killed five people and left 53 others injured in the Black Sea province of Karabük. A bus en route to İstanbul hit barriers on the road and then rolled over. The driver was allegedly sleeping when the accident took place.

In the Anatolian province of Nevşehir two people died in a hit-and-run accident. The driver of a truck fled after hitting a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver and his son, a passenger on the bike, lost their lives. Police have launched an investigation into the accident and are searching for the driver of the truck.

One person died and another was injured after a car hit a dumpster, leaving the driver and a passenger trapped inside in Alanya, a district of the southern province of Antalya. The passenger and driver were rescued by fire fighters who came to the site of the accident. The driver died while the injured passenger was taken to Manavgat State Hospital.

Meanwhile, a bus collided with a minibus in the southwestern province of Denizli. Three people in the minibus died. A total of 18 people from both vehicles sustained injuries in the accident.

Two more people were killed in another hit-and-run accident in the southeastern province of Mardin. The driver of a truck fled after he hit two people that were changing the tires of another truck on the side of a road. The remains of the victims were taken to the morgue of Nusaybin State Hospital. Police have launched a probe into the accident.
