World-famous actress Angelina Jolie, who is known for using her fame to draw attention to global issues, is to be a guest of honor at a Turkish film festival with the theme of violence against women, media outlets reported on Monday.
The 2nd International Golden Scales Film Festival, which is to start on Sept. 27 and end on Oct. 4, is jointly organized by the İstanbul University's Law Faculty and Başakşehir Municipality. The theme of the event will be “Violence against women and discrimination.”
Jolie is expected to visit Turkey soon to attend the festival. Jolie allegedly accepted to invitation to attend the festival thanks to Rade Serbedzija, an actor in the movie “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” which was written and directed by Jolie. According to reports, it was Serbedzija who persuaded Jolie to come to Turkey. Serbedzija attended the film festival last year.
