Lawmaker says hair grew after being hit by eggs at protest

Burhan Kuzu, a senior politician from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), has revealed he was not very traumatized after a protest by egg-throwing students in 2010, saying he was even happy about it because his hair grew after his head was pelted by eggs.

The protest occurred when a group of students from Ankara University's political science department prevented Kuzu and the Republican People's Party's (CHP) Süheyl Batum -- who had been invited as speakers to a panel discussion titled “The Constitution in Turkey” -- from speaking with their aggressive use of eggs and loud chanting.

Speaking at a conference held at İstanbul University on Monday, Kuzu, who was hit by about 200 eggs by the university students in 2010, said he has no problems with the students who staged the protest and that he has forgiven them all, and added half-mockingly that he is even pleased with the incident because his hair grew after his head was pelted by eggs during the protest.

Kuzu also added that his forgiveness does not mean that what they did was right.
