İstanbul province has provided colorful led lights for the exterior of the kuleli Military high school, located in İstanbul's Çengelköy district on the city's Asian side along the Bosporus, so that the historic school building will now be visible from the water and the Bosporus bridges by night.
A renovation of the Kuleli military High School building began 15 months ago and was completed last week. The building's exterior walls were renovated and reinforced against possible earthquakes, at a cost of TL 13 million to İstanbul's provincial administration. As a finishing touch to the restoration, the building will be lit with LED lights so that it can be seen at night.
The Kuleli Military High School was built in 1828 as troop quarters and became a hospital in 1877, before being converted into a military school in 1924. The school has two towers that were built in 1968, but it was already called “Kuleli” (towered) before the towers were built, after the name of the neighborhood in which the school is located.
