New information that has emerged regarding the Council of State attack four years ago suggests that two janitors employed on the second floor of the Council of State building had been in touch with the police department one day before the attack.According to a story published in the Yeni Şafak daily yesterday, janitors Cafer Özbek and Yılmaz Demir said they spotted Alparslan Arslan one day before the incident and found his behavior suspicious. In written testimony both men said they had informed the police. Özbek and Demir stated in their testimony that Arslan had asked them where the 2nd Chamber was located. When they indicated the way to the chamber, Arslan looked at them and said, “There will be a message.” Arslan left, only to appear again half an hour later. However, it was not clear whether the two janitors’ tip-off was relayed to the Ankara Police Department or not, according to Yeni Şafak’s story.
