“The recent attack in Mardin has once again shown the importance of education. Preschool and elementary school education play a particularly vital role in the development of children, who are our future. As part of its social responsibility projects, coşku publications has sent 1,000 educational sets, each of which contains 17 books and other materials, to the students of Mardin through the Mardin provincial Education Directorate. In accordance with an agreement with Sürat Cargo, transportation of the sets will be free of charge,” a statement from the company said.
Holding a press conference on the issue, Mardin Provincial Education Director Hasan Dal said they try to distribute aid to those in need. “We thank Coşku Publications for their support. We will give Coşku Publications a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Mardin Governor's Office,” he added.
An attack by armed assailants on civilians during an engagement ceremony in Bilge on May 4 resulted in the deaths of 44 people and the injury of two others. Sixteen of the victims were women, and six were children. Three of the women were pregnant. The vicious attack reportedly stemmed from an inter-family dispute over the bride. Some sources, however, claimed that a land dispute was the cause of the attack. The attack was one of the worst involving civilians in Turkey's recent history.
