According to news reports, the two brothers disappeared in the channel while swimming. Eyewitnesses immediately called the gendarmerie for help.

The bodies of the two brothers were found by members of the public who jumped into the channel to search for the boys. The bodies were taken to the Tekman State Hospital mortuary.
