[Diary of an Expat Bride] Drawn blinds
22 November 2013, Friday / ELLE LOFTIS, İZMIT
"Well, she's barricaded herself in the office, the blinds are drawn and the door is shut," my co-worker announced before flopping onto a chair in the tiny office we called the English department. I had just moved to Turkey and found this job teaching English to kindergarteners at an elite Istanbul private school. Three of us tried to eke out a curriculum for the 200 plus students in our kindergarten: Jale, a Turkish English teacher; Lisa, a British English teacher; and me, the American. It was late October 2003 and I had only been on the job for three weeks.
