Terrorist PKK kidnaps 4 civilians in Tunceli

The terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has continued with its campaign of kidnapping civilians and on Friday Tunceli Deputy Governor Ali Güldoğan told the press that a group of PKK terrorist stopped a vehicle carrying five road workers and kidnapped four of them.

They then set the vehicle on fire as they left the scene, Güldoğan added. The incident took place in the village of Uzuntarla, in Tunceli province. The deputy governor added that air-backed operations have started in the region in order to locate the terrorist group and rescue the workers.

Meanwhile, the Hakkari Governor's Office issued a statement on Friday in which it said Turkish security forces had seized rifles and explosives, materials used for making bombs and remote-controlled explosives in Şemdinli, a district of Hakkari province.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the United States, has been waging a bloody war in Turkey's Southeast since 1984. More than 40,000 people have been killed during the bloody conflict so far.

The organization is based in northern Iraq and launches attacks on Turkey from its hideouts in the mountainous region. The PKK also operates in various European cities.
