Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt arrived in İstanbul on Wednesday for a signing ceremony after agreeing to a three-year contract with Turkish football giant Fenerbahçe.
Kuyt and Fenerbahçe agreed on his transfer on a buyout clause worth 1 million euros. The Netherlands national will make an appearance for fans at the Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium later in the afternoon. His arrival was not scheduled until later, but the Netherlands' elimination from the Euro 2012 tournament resulted in a change of plans.
Kuyt made a name for himself while playing for FC Utrecht, where he spent five years. His performance on the pitch earned him a transfer to Rotterdam side Feyenoord in 2003. Kuyt has been playing for English powerhouse Liverpool since 2006 and has scored 71 goals in 285 appearances for the club.
