Prosecutors have said France has handed over to German authorities a Turkish national accused of membership in the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
The 21-year-old man, identified only as Sedat K. in line with German privacy rules, was arrested near Paris on July 10 on a German warrant. He was sent to Germany on Wednesday.
Federal prosecutors said Friday that a judge ordered him kept in custody pending formal charges.
They say that the suspect is accused of being a high-ranking official in the PKK's youth organization in Germany and neighboring Switzerland between Oct. 2009 and March 2011, and that one of his responsibilities was collecting money for the group.
