PM to attend World Economic Forum meeting

Later this month Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to both Spain and Switzerland to attend international gatherings, offering him the opportunity to meet with several leaders from around the world.Erdoğan will first travel to Madrid on Sunday to participate in the first forum of the UN-led Alliance of Civilizations initiative, on Jan. 15 and 16. The initiative was launched by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan following a proposal by Erdoğan and his Spanish counterpart, Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

The high-level event in Madrid will bring together political leaders, representatives of international and regional bodies, donor agencies, civil society groups and foundations to explore ways of addressing the growing polarization between nations and cultures worldwide and to develop partnerships to promote cross-cultural understanding globally.

In late January Erdoğan will travel to the Swiss alpine resort of Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF), an annual gathering of political and business leaders. "The Power of Collaborative Innovation" is set as the principal theme for the forum, which will be attended by prominent leaders including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
