Jalili will be meeting with representatives from the group of P5+1, consisting of the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany. The talks are scheduled for Saturday.
Iranian officials had earlier suggested that the venue of the talks be moved from İstanbul to alternative venues, such as Baghdad, Damascus or China, amid tensions between Turkey and Iran over Syria. The Iranian call for a change of venue just days before the talks angered Turkey, with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accusing Iranian officials of dishonesty.
The first round of talks between Iran and the P5+1 was held in İstanbul in January 2011. The talks failed to produce any agreement. Iranian media have reported that the next round of talks will be held in Baghdad.
