Thanks for Today's Zaman and a Minor Reminder

Last week’s article, titled “Welcome to a Brand-New Newspaper,” received a warm response from our readers. Thanks.

The qualities that distinguish Zaman’s readership have re-appeared. I received many encouraging text-messages, e-mails and telephone calls… once more, thank you. The Zaman family is again in the spotlight. Our readers have established a unique link with us, distinct from the usual relationship between buyer and seller. Our product quality is a point of shared importance.

Another thing that intrigues me: Today’s Zaman’s wide appeal was only from those who learnt about it through the Internet.

This is a sign indicating the public’s need for this kind of newspaper.

The most enthusiastic response last week about Today’s Zaman was the first round of requests for subscriptions. For the most part, we received messages asking for information on how to subscribe now.

Zaman is not launching Today’s Zaman in vain. Instead, Zaman is focusing its efforts on broadening its horizon to match international standards of journalism.

We are that much closer to launching the kind of newspaper that will justly convey Turkey to the world.

This newspaper will not just be a translated version of Zaman; rather, it will be a newspaper on its own. It will have a distinct group of writers, along with its own managerial staff, who together will try to create a style that is unique to Today’s Zaman.

I cannot possibly put into words the feelings of excitement and gratitude we had when we first heard readers’ acclaim for this project.

The only thing left to do is call.
