At a time when reactions from all segments of society and especially from rational Kurdish citizens were escalating, the Constitutional Court announced its decision to close down the party. And the massacre in Reşadiye was virtually forgotten. But this fatal incident should not be forgotten. The PKK’s mission is no longer obscure but instead crystal clear. Until now PKK members only clashed with security forces. Thank God, these conflicts did not lead to enmity between people. People in the same neighborhood and workplace got along just fine. Now this organization wants to tear down all the bridges between Kurds and Turks. According to the terror organization’s theory, action will breed more action and violence will trigger more violence and clashes with security forces will evolve into hostility between different groups of people. In truth, the PKK wants a civil war. This is the plan. That is because the organization is distressed and feeling a loss of control. It isn’t able to find support from Iraq, Syria and Iran like before. Logistical support to the organization was cut off as Turkey solved its problems with neighboring countries. The organization used to get political support from the West, but now that support has declined as well.
Internal and foreign circumstances require the PKK to become either ineffective in the mountains or to come down from the mountains. It is for this reason that the PKK is planning on regaining some control by making one last move. The only option they have is to instigate provocative incidents that will strain people’s patience, expand clashes, complicate a problem that is ready to be solved and create distrust among citizens.
They are evaluating every opportunity they find to do this. In fact, they would rejoice if they could get martial law or a state of emergency declared in the region by intensifying incidents in the streets. Ergenekon associates that are behind the scenes are also longing for such a situation.
They are supposedly protesting the DTP’s closure, but they never actually liked the DTP in the first place. The urban arm of the organization named the Kurdish Democratic Confederation (KCK) gets orders directly from İmralı. They could not tolerate the DTP’s occasional impartial attitude. Now they are exploiting the party’s closure. Closing down a party is not a pleasant situation. Turning the country’s democracy into a “party graveyard” does not benefit Turkey. Therefore, it is normal to show a democratic reaction to the decision to close down a party. But why attack the homes and workplaces of innocent people, set cars on fire and destroy the environment? It’s obvious that this is being done deliberately. There is a terrible plan to create a violent backlash.
The incident that occurred in Beyoğlu the other day is a signal flare of a serious development. People with chopping knives, regular knives and guns attacked PKK militants, sparking violence everywhere. That is exactly what the terror organization wants. That is why they have been inciting provocative events for several months. The impudent and careless attitudes they displayed when welcoming those who came down from the mountains and gave up arms made everyone despise them. This was not a result of a type of behavior that stemmed from fearlessness and bluntness, but it was part of a plan. They want the bloody organization and the Kurdish people to blend and let innocent people suffer. Please be careful.
Especially the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP). This party has painful memories. MHP supporters who poured into the streets in the past and then became victims know very well the kind of pain that occurs. The neo-nationalists should be the ones who have the best understanding of what will result from a plan to reintroduce the same scenario. Instead of dealing with cheap vote hunting tactics, the MHP needs to develop polices that will embrace everyone, including the Southeast.
Being provoked means depending on the PKK’s road map. Taking to the streets with chopping knives means facilitating the violence and fear that the terror organization wants to create. This nation has seen similar nightmares in the past. The domination of this kind of madness is what caused the rightist-leftist clash in the past as well. Falling into the same trap not only means reviving a desperate and pathetic organization but also means throwing peace into the fire.
