There is no justification for this violence. [Israel says that] Hamas fired missiles and that Israel has the right to counter terrorism and this is best understood by Turkey. Will these justifications make us forget the deaths of more than 400 civilians and the wounding of another 1,000? Will they be of any use to soothe their pains? How can Israel be so ruthless, so heartless, at a time when we talk about humanity, peace, tolerance, conciliation in a world that seeks to realize an alliance of civilizations instead of a clash of civilizations? Neither the presence of the United Nations nor the injured collective consciousness of humanity means anything to Israel or its supporter the US.
Before an election, all parties in Israel want to see Palestinian bloodshed. "The higher the number of Palestinians killed, the more support we will get in the elections," they calculate. Who would not feel ashamed for plotting to reap political benefit by building on bloodshed? Will this bloodshed not strike back at the US and Israel? Will the revenge of the innocent not be taken by God? Just go and study history, and you will see that no oppression will last forever.
The big mistake Israel and its unswerving backer the US are making will eventually be visible to everyone. If peace is not achieved in the Middle East and if the future of the Palestinians is not secured, there will be no future for Israel. If the Palestinians are not safe, Israel will never be safe. The US rulers, too, know that the factor that provokes global terror the most is the Israeli tyranny over the Palestinians. What adds the most fuel to the clash of civilizations are the US-backed Israeli policies. The occupation of countries in the Muslim world, claiming to prevent global terror, on the one hand, and lending open support to Israel, which provokes terror, on the other: What kind of terrible stance is this?
Today, Israel is depicted as a country that uses terror as an official policy. How will Israel be stopped? Israel will only lend an ear to the US, but the Bush administration is utterly indifferent. Rather, it condones and backs the Israeli attacks to the fullest. President-elect Barack Obama, who will assume office on Jan. 20, is being forced to surrender to Israeli policies. What can be done?
Humanity must get rid of the inaction that has been maiming it. The UN, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Arab League and human rights organizations must take action. Protests voiced for animals should also be voiced for innocent children and infants. No one should say, "These two are unrelated things." The conscientious souls who cannot accept Great Disasters must also protest Israel. Today, we expect everyone to have a conscience.
We believe that these disasters can only be prevented and that universal peace can only be achieved by seeking a solution all together. We must insistently tell this to those who know nothing but coercion. We must untiringly repeat that there is a way other than relying on conflicts or coercion. We must not be shaken; we must not feel despair. We must remember that the darkness of night increases as the dawn gets nearer.
We have no power to overcome the powerful. Our power derives from our humane stance, which calls for compassion, mercy and justice, and from our belief that the conscience of humanity will eventually be awakened.
O God! We, too, seek patience. We, too, ask for the steadfastness You poured on the army of Saul when they stood against the armies of Goliath.
The nation of Goliath had attacked the Children of Israel and banished them from their homeland and their families. Today, the same oppression is being implemented on Muslims who are blockaded. They are living in misery and seeking help from us with eyes that make us feel ashamed of our Muslimness and humanity.
Pour upon us steadfastness so that we can withstand this and can preserve our stance for love and peace despite all the treacherous conspiracies of our enemies and can act according to the requirements of our positions.
