The Calendar-adjusted Monthly Industrial Production Index decreased by 12 percent to 107.7 in June compared to the same month of the previous year, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) announced on Monday in a written statement. The statement also noted that the index decreased 0.4 percent compared to the previous month. The statement noted that TurkStat and the central bank jointly provide seasonal and calendar adjustments of short-term economic indicators with industrial production indices in order to enable users and decision-makers to compare data pertaining to consecutive periods. The institutions use the methodology recommended by Eurostat in preparing the data. Examining the figures of the last five years, the index value saw its first decline compared to the same months of the previous years in August 2008, and has continued falling since then.
