Agricultural products dealer Sunar Grup is yielding the fruits of a recent initiative to produce sunflower in southeast Anatolia.
The firm is expecting to minimize Turkey’s sunflower seed and oil imports and turn the country’s southeastern province of Muş into a major sunflower production center. Turkey spends $3.5 billion on oilseed imports every year and sunflower constitutes a good portion of that sum. Sunar exports products to more than 50 countries in three continents under its own brand name. It produces flour, vegetable oils, starch and margarines.
