The museum, which took Pamuk around a decade to build, is entirely based on a work of fiction, pamuk’s bestselling 2008 novel of the same name, which makes it the first of its kind around the world. The three-storey museum offers a tangible experience for the novel’s fans through objects and ephemera related to the characters and events detailed in the book.
Among the items displayed in the museum, which Pamuk calls a little and modest museum of İstanbul’s daily life, are movie tickets, matches, door handles, knick-knacks and photographs.
Those who wish to visit the museum can go to the website, www.masumiyetmuzesi.org, to reserve entrance tickets or buy tickets through My Bilet or from the booths at the entrance of the museum.
The museum can be visited every day except for Monday. It is open between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on other days.
