Turkey’s Altın Portakal (Golden Orange) International Film Festival has unveiled the poster for its 49th edition in Antalya, set to take place in October in the sun-kissed Mediterranean city, the organizers of the annual cinematic get-together announced Wednesday.
The 2012 poster, by graphic designer Kusuf Kara, features a golden orange made of a film reel, which also stands for the illuminated world of cinema. The poster was chosen from among 49 finalists from a total of 177 designs submitted to the festival’s poster competition.
The winner and the runners-up were announced during a news conference on Wednesday in Antalya by Mayor Mustafa Akaydın.
Kara won a TL 5,000 cash prize for his winning design while the second-place winner was Yusuf İnci, a graphic design student from Bilecik University, who won TL 2,000, and graphic designer Metin Erdoğan came in third, winning TL 1,000.
The 49 posters that were selected for the finals of the competition will be put on display in an exhibition in Antalya during this year’s festival. The 49th Altın Portakal International Film Festival will run Oct. 6-12.
